Radiographies sonores

With gentrification, not only places change and people come and go. A complex assemblage of landscapes transitions, mutates, and in some cases disappears.

Set in Parc-Extension, Montréal, Radiographies sonores listens to the acoustic life of a neighbourhood under transformation. Behind the walls, in streets, shops, apartments, and shared spaces, the soundscapes that make communities recognizable also begin to vanish.

The project approaches sound as a form of social memory: fragile, situated, and easily displaced. What disappears is not only architecture or affordable housing, but also the everyday voices, rhythms, and resonances through which a place is lived.
